Tips To Crack MCQs
All most all competitive & job exams have multiple choice questions as a pattern to test the candidates. To be successful in this pattern along with being familiar with concepts, one needs to be aware of the time. It is all about time management. Solving this type of examination with few techniques will unlock doors for your desired job or college. Besides a good preparation what you need to know is below.
1. No Guess Work:
No MCQ based exams these days are without negative marking. Therefore simply guessing answers is a very bad option. Students often have the tendency to mark the answer without deriving at one, taking a chance would cost you as much as admission into your dream campus or company.
2. Elimination:
For all logical questions when your not sure about the answer, first eliminate all the possible wrong answers. This will restrict your choice and ambiguity to a certain level after which you can derive at an answer. Especially for vocabulary questions, this technique is most useful because in most cases almost all answers seem the same. Exclusion mechanism always works.
3. Avoid Extreme Choices:
When you have 1000 and -10 in your answer choices, both of them might not be the answer. Sometimes when solving the problem seems to be time-consuming, try substitution or reverse calculation. Often when answer choices are confusing like 1114 and 1141, students/aspirants despite getting the correct answer mark the wrong answer and then regret committing such silly mistakes. In case of vocabulary, when two words which have opposite meanings, one of them is the answer or sometimes might not be. For that, you need to study the pattern of the previous papers and try to answer smart.
4. Be Alert:
Be smart when the paper is trying to fool you because the agenda behind these exams is not only to test your conceptual clarity but also your smart work and alertness. For that, you need to be familiar with kind of questions and act accordingly. So spare time to understand the testing pattern of the examiner along with learning the concepts clearly. So when you are confused between your logic and knowledge, go for knowledge.
5. Time Management:
The most important factor to crack these competitive exams is time management. Sometimes lengthy but easy questions appear in your question paper only because the examiner wants to test you whether you are wise enough to sacrifice that question. Maximisation of marks is prima facie and you can satisfy your ego by cracking that typical question at home. Any paper has easy, moderate and difficult questions, you should be clever enough to answer the difficult and time taking questions at the end. Read the paper completely, prioritise and then answer the questions.
